What we do
Our activities
At ARBA Vega Baja, we work on the restoration of native plant communities, basic for a total recovery of our environment.
Whether it is degraded land with hardly any vegetation, a replanted pine forest with low biodiversity or an urban green space, our aim is always the same: to establish a diverse and sustainable native ecosystem in the area restored. It is in this way, plot by plot, that we aim to create a network of connected natural spaces that reinforce one another and act as self-sustaining dispersal hubs.

Our methodology
A successful restoration cannot be improvised. At ARBA Vega Baja, we draw on the lessons learnt by our organisation from numerous projects in neighbouring areas, as well as on existing scientific knowledge.
The steps we follow are the following:
Site survey
We compile all the site-specific parameters that are crucial to the restoration: applicable regulations, topography, microclimate, soil composition and more.
Plant communities analysis
We study the existing and potential species, determining which plant communities will shape the backbone of our restoration strategy.
Restoration plan
Based on our studies and the resources available for each project, we draw up a multi-year action plan, setting out implementation and monitoring phases with decision points.
Execution
Once the plan is approved, we begin the corresponding activities, such as: site preparation, planting and sowing during the wet season, installation of irrigation systems, communication actions, etc.
Monitoring
Plant germination and survival follow up, watering, replacing dead plants, etc., increase the chances of success and enable us to learn from the process, guiding the restoration next steps.
